What Does a Pool Deck Cost in the Phoenix Area?

The honest answer is "it depends", so here is what it depends on, with the price ranges we typically see locally.

What drives the price

  • Surface: The biggest variable, from plain concrete to natural stone.
  • What is there now: Tearing out and hauling away an old deck adds cost.
  • Preparation: Cracks and damaged areas must be repaired before a coating goes on.
  • Size and shape: Curves and multiple levels take more labor than a rectangle.
  • Access: A narrow side gate means more carrying and more time.
  • Features: Drainage, seating walls, decorative borders and fire pits.

Typical ranges per square foot

  • Broom-finish concrete: $6 to $10. Durable and plain, and it gets hot.
  • Cool-deck coating over existing concrete: $8 to $15, more if the slab needs significant repair.
  • Concrete pavers: $12 to $25 installed.
  • Stamped concrete: $15 to $25.
  • Travertine pavers: $20 to $40 or more.

For a 700-square-foot deck, that is roughly $4,200 at the plain end and $28,000 or more for premium travertine.

These are general market ranges, not a quote. Prices change with materials and site conditions. We give you a firm, itemized price after seeing the pool.

What a quote should include

  • Scope: Demolition, repair, new surface or coating.
  • Materials: The specific product, color and sealer.
  • Preparation: Cleaning, crack repair, grading or base work.
  • Drainage: Where water will go.
  • Cleanup and haul-away.
  • Warranty: On materials and workmanship.
  • Payment schedule: Tied to progress.

If a quote is one line and one number, ask for the detail. You cannot compare two quotes that do not say what they include.
